I was trying to confirm my Uncle Sam's birthdate from his obituary and ended up clicking on your website.I was excited by the information that was posted because I had the names Ke and Mahuna but this post gave me their full names. I also recognized the names of my mother's aunties and uncles.Clara who was a nun, Mrs. Wallwork & Arthur, Moses and George. I have a friend that is doing research for the parish that Aunty Clara lived at and while looking at my friend's photo album I saw pictures of Aunty Clara. She had just died a couple of years prior.
The information below is of David Valentine's family.David Valentine was my grandfather, my mother's father. He died before I was born.
My mother was Dorothy Maryann Kahalewai Ke. All of the information I have, I abstracted from the records at the Department of Health, except for Uncle Sam's birthdate. As for Aunty Mollie the only information I have on her is that she was the eldest, she was adopted out and she raised Aunty Nona's eldest son.My Aunty Nona shared this information with me.Aunty Emma was the baby of the family.
Uncle Hosea is my mother's, half brother.Uncle Hosea is a product of my Grandma Emma's second marriage. My uncle lives somewhere on the Big Island near Hilo.I'm not sure if my grandfather, David remarried but I know that he had 12 more children with another lady named Nancy. My mom was close to one of her daughters which was my mom's half-sister, Ruth.We used to call her Aunty Luka and she was a music teacher at St Francis Church on School Street.
Uncle Ladislaus graduated from Kamehameha School, joined the military and was killed in battle. The reason I mention this is because one day I took Pualeilani, my sister Geri's daughter to take a test at Kamehameha School and while I was waiting for her I strolled around the campus and found a huge rock memorializing fallen Kamehameha graduates that had died in the different wars.Uncle Ladislaus's name is engraved on that rock. All of my uncles were veterans and are all buried, along with my Aunty Miriam, who married military, at Punchbowl Cemetery. My mom is buried at Valley of the Temples where her mom, my grandmother is.
THESE ARE DAVID VALENTINE'S CHILDREN: THE ONLY TWO ALIVE TODAY ARE MY AUNTY WENONAH AND MY UNCLE HOSEA.I'M NOT SURE ABOUT MY AUNTY MOLLIE.
