In the 1900 census, John C. was single and was a professor at Tarkio College in Tarkio, Atkinson, Missouri. He lived on-campus.
In 1911 John C was selected to be an assistant science teacher at Nampa High.
John applied for a passport 6/22/1900. He listed that he was born 3/21/1862 at McAlevys Fort, [Huntington County] Pennsylvania. He applied in Page County IA, and said that he and his wife, E. May Adair, b Buda IL 5/4/1869, were applying. They were to return by Sept 1900.
John was the son of J. M. and Ruth Adair. In 1870, he had a younger brother John, b 1864. His father was a clergyman. They had a domestic servant, Alice Keller, age 13. They lived Jackson, Huntingdon, PA.
