Shelley Eugene "Gene" Ritchie passed from this world on June 22, 2007 with his family surrounding him. Gene was born in Shawnee, Okla. to Shelley Lestus Ritchie and Pauline Lois Taylor in 1937. He had many accomplishments; he worked for Union Oil and Tyson Foods. He belonged to the Big Sisters-Big Brothers program and was nominated for the Humanitarian of the Year award in 1994 and Hero of the Year award from Tyson in 2001. He volunteered his time to many events. His love for country music led him to write numerous country music songs and skits.
He is survived by his seven children; Colleen Dooms, Scott and Debbie Hincks. Mike and Diane Studer, Linda Greene, Art and Rebecca Lacey, Cathie Ritchie and Bryan Ritchie.
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two brothers, two sisters and his first wife, Karen Ritchie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Diane Ritchie, a daughter, Brenda Sue Ritchie and a sister, Cecilia Heatley.
Memorial services will be at the First Church of the Nazarene, 16th Ave. in Nampa. Burial will follow at Kohlerlawn, Nampa. Flowers may be sent to the First Church of the Nazarene.
