I have an ancestor, Otto Thorsted, who freighted supplies from Utah to Montana in the late 1870's. On one of his many trips he was attacked by a band of Indians and to escape he swam across the Snake River.
According to one family member there is a historical marker at the location but he visited the location when we was very young and can't remember its location.
I have checked the Highway markers and the DUP marker list and have come up empty.
Has anyone here heard of this marker or know of another place to research? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
