SAYS HUSBAND IS CRUEL TO HER
Mrs. Anna T. Shanahan of Idaho City Asks for Absolute Divorce.
Avers Spouse Choked Her and Threatened to Cut Her Throat.
Serious charges are made against Joseph Shanahan of Idaho City by his wife, mrs. Anna T. Shanahan, in a complaint filed in divorce proceedings in the district court Friday. The Plaintiff avers that she and Shanahan were married in Boise county July 15, 1906; that they possess community property in a lot on Montgomery Street in Idaho City which is recorded in her name, valued at $200, and that the defendant since marriage has treated her in a cruel and inhuman manner, and in particular as follows: That he choked her on numerous occasions, and threatened at the same time to shoot her, and to cut her throat: that on April 1, 1910, he dragged her out of bed at 1 o’clock in the morning, pulled her to an upstairs window, and threatened to throw her out of a window, and has often said that “it it wasn’t for the kids this would be your last breath”.
All of which the plaintiff avers has caused her great mental anguish and suffering and has caused her to live constantly in fear of her life.
Mrs. Shanahan prays that she may be divorced, restored to all of the rights and privileges of a single person, giving custody of their two children, Carl, aged 4, and Josephine; that she be given title to the community property, permanent alimony of $40 per month, $75 for attorney’s fees and $10 a week pending settlement of the action for the support of herself and the children.
The woman further avers that Shanahan is an able-bodied man and earns on an average of $90 per month. She is represented by Attoreny E.H. Hulser.
