It has been proved that Eliza/Elizabeth Trent was the daughter of Henry Trent and Ruth Wilcox. Found in Court records a depostion from James H. Norris in a case concerning Jacob Bale and his brothers over the Bale Mill.In the deposition, James Norris was asked how he knew Jacob Bale and he stated that they had married sisters.Jacob Bale had married America Ann Trent, a known daughter of Henry Trent and Ruth Wilcox.Incidently, the deposition was taken after James had been pardoned from the State Pen of his manslaughter conviction. He eventually filed for divorce from Eliza stating she refused to return to the marriage. the four boys had been placed in local homes about 1859....not sure if they had family connections to the Norris family. So far we have not found a connection to the Trent side. According to the divorce paper, James states that his wife was gone for the years 1860-1862. We have not located her anywhere at any time. In Kerwin's post in ILLinois forum, I need to correct some info. The Elizabeth Trent married to Wm A. Trent is the Elizabeth Evans also mentioned. I have her name as Sarah Elizabeth Evans b. 1830. This couple had chilren: Laura A, Mary B., and Henrietta. (this Henrietta married Douglas Bale).Apparently Elizabeth Evans Trent died as did Wm A Trent in 1862. the girls were place in Faith homes by the courts. This Wm A Trent was the son of Alexander Trent and Highland Ferguson and no other connection to Henry Trent, his uncle, than that. Later in the post, there is a question next to Martha Haines....asking if this was Elizabeth's sister? If this means Elizabeth Trent's sister.....then NO, Elizabeth Trent did have a sister Martha, but she married Columbus Crosby.Maybe this Martha Haines was a Norris sister. we have found info on Clifford Norris and his family and Daniel Norris and his family....census and obits etc.But do not know what happened to the sons, Jefferson or John, who are in other families on the 1860 ceusus. These folks moved between Mason and Menard counties often.
