Need help on lookup or someone local to help locate some graves/headstones for three members of this family who lived in Keithsburg, Mercer Co IL. Any other information welcome:
Biosketch of family:
Mr. Cornelius O'Leary, book-keeper and assistant cashier, was born
in the city of Cork, Ireland, March 25, 1826. In 1848 he emigrated
to this country, arriving in New York on the 19th of June. He came
directly to Wisconsin and became employed in the pineries, transacting
business principally for Francis Biron of Grand Rapids, Wisconsin,
until 1858, in which year he arrived at Keithsburg with a raft of
lumber. Having disposed of that he associated himself with B. D.
Ellett in the lumber trade ; and excepting the time that he was absent
in the army, he was in company with Mr. Ellett until 1869. Imme-
diately on the first call of President Lincoln for troops, in April, 1861,
he enlisted in company I, 17th reg. 111. Vol., and was appointed first
sergeant. He fought at Fredericktown, Missouri, at Fort Donelson,
and at Shiloh, and in the last engagement commanded his company ;
he was in the siege of Corinth, and after that returned with his regi-
ment to Bolivar, Tennessee, where he was discharged October 29,
1862. In 1869 he built a store and a residence in Keithsburg, and
was in the grocery trade a year; from 1871 to 1876 he made several
changes in business : was first manufacturing plows with W. C.
Taliaferro, then wagons with H. Campbell ; a part of the time was in
Wisconsin, and the last year and a half was running a steamer on the
Missouri river. In May, 1876, he came into the Farmers' Bank as
book-keeper and assistant cashier, and has been steadily engaged in
this position since November, 1880. He was united in marriage with
Miss Roxanna De Haven April 29, 1869, and by this union three
children have been born : Margaret, Arthur, and Richard. Mr.
O'Leary has been town trustee three terms, and is now treasurer.
What is known about family:
Cornelius O'Leary born City of Cork, Ireland March 25 1826 died July 10 1897. Have NOT been able to locate where he is buried in Mercer County.
His wife Roxanne (DeHaven) O'Leary born Apr 29 1869 was the daughter of William DeHaven b. 1804 and his wife Elizabeth Barkley b. 1811. Roxanne (DeHaven) O'Leary died Oct 1886 and have NOT been able to locate where she was buried in Mercer Co.
Their daughter Margaret O'Leary was born March 26 1870 and died May 27 1889 Keithsburg. Have NOT been able to locate where she was buried.
Their son Arthur O'Leary was born Mar 3 1874 Keithsburg and left IL with his younger brother go mining. They were in CO, TX and Mexico. Arthur O'Leary married a Frances/Francis Cornell and eventually settled in Placerville, El Dorado Co. CA. One child: Margaret O'Leary (1906-1965 married Hubert Minahen (1904-1960).
Their son Richard O'Leary was born Oct 19 1876 and was attending Knox College in Galesburg in 1895,1896, 1897. Member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity 1895. He left Mercer Co with his older brother and they became miners in CO, TX, Mexico. He died in El Paso, Texas on Jan 23 1952 and is buried in Evergreen Alameda Cemetery, El Paso (on Find a Grave with headstone photo).
