I'm trying to tie down a couple of generations from the Lewis line which settled in Warren Co., IL:
#1)John Lewis, b. 27 Apr 1792 d. 24 Oct 1853 m. 22 Mar 1815 to Nancy Parrott Beach, b. 22 Feb 1796 d. 17 Feb 1872 they were married in Basking Ridge, NJ and arrived at his farm on Section 7-9 north 1 west, in Warren County, Illinois on the 26th of October 1837. I believe this farm is near Roseville & Berwick, IL.
#2)Fanelia Beach Lewis, b. 25 May 1822 d. 12 Sep 1865 m. 19 Dec 1838 to John Biggs Cox, b. 25 Jan 1817 d. 10 May 1867 they were married at the farm of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Lewis, near Berwick, Warren County, Illinois by a local Methodist preacher named Barton H. Cartwright. John B. Cox was the son of Larred and Henrietta Cox who were born in Scotland.
Specifically, I need primary evidence of John Biggs Cox birth and death. I have an original letter dated 1908 from Aunt Josephine (Russell) Lewis (wife of Aaron Thompson Lewis) who owned A.T. Lewis Dry Goods of Denver CO. & New York City NY, to my G.G.Grandma Prudentia Deborah (Cox) Rockwood (neice of Aaron Thompson Lewis) which details the lineage of the Lewis family back to Edward Doty of the Mayflower. I also have about a dozen letters from John Biggs Cox to his daughter, Prudentia Deborah (Cox) Rockwood circa 1863 to 1866 which verifies many of the Lewis/Cox/Rockwood relationships. I know my G.G.G. Grandmother, Fanelia Beach (Lewis) Cox was buried in the Berwick Cemetery in Warren County but, I haven't visited the cemetery yet and do not know if my G.G.G. Grandfather, John Biggs Cox is also buried there. My G.G.Grandma, Prudentia Deborah Cox married Elisha Rockwood on January 21, 1863 in Roseville, Warren Co., IL and settled in Goodland, IN and are buried there.I have documentation from there to the present for the Rockwood, Fox & Smith families. I also have the coat of arms for Lewis, Rockwood & Fox families.
Can you please help me tie down these two generations from Warren Co., IL? I will be glad to share my information if it will help any of you.
