There will be a Reeves Family Reunion July 12, 2003, in Brazil, IN, for all descendants of this line; many of whom are as yet "not found". Jeremiah and Jehiel left Suffolk County, Long Island, New York, and traveled down the Ohio River by flatboat (circa 1820) to secure a federal land grant in White County, Illinois. Their parents were Barnabas and Esther Halsey Reeve (or Reeves), whose other children were Esther (m. Joel Robinson), Huldah (m. Nathaniel Mills), Bethia (m. Thomas Fletcher), Phoebe, Barnabas, and Daniel.
Jeremiah married Julia Horton in New York; then Edna Cross, then Sarah Orr in Illinois. Jeremiah and Julia had Julia (m. George M. King), Georgianna, Benjamin Franklin (m. Margaret E. Smith), and Prudence (m. John Haefele). Jeremiah and Edna had George (m. Rachel Murphy) and Ira (m. Anne E. ?, Mattie E. Brown, and Mary E. Payne).
Jehiel married Mary Pickering (unsure of location), then Mary Hunter (in Illinois). Jehiel is reported to have had thirteen children, but I can only find names for ten: Sarah B., Charles A., Phebe E., John W. (or H.?), Mary D., Halsey, Calista, Otis, Joseph, and James. Sarah m. Dr. M.H. Bacon; Charles m. Elizabeth Wood, then Mary Ann Hunsaker; Phebe m. James Fenton; John m. Fabitha Cain; Mary m. Charles W. Wright; Calista m. James S. Milliken; Otis m. Elizabeth Higgenson; James m. Nancy Reeves.
I am especially interested in learning more about Charles A. and his children as he was my gg-grandfather. His children were Oram (or Omar), Sarah Emily, Mathew Elmer, Ora Hume (my g-grandfather), Olive, Mary E., Charles M., and William H. Charles A. lived in or near White, Douglas, Edgar, and Moultrie Counties in Illinois, and somewhere in Missouri for a short time. If anyone has any info about any of these ancestors, or if you think you're related and have any interest in the reunion, please reply to this message and I will get back to you with more details. Thanks! Cindy (Reeves) Little
