Thanks Gary, I was not able to swing by Albion, but I did get some documents in Carmi. I would be very interested in seeing the marriage license to Charles Jones from 1882 in Edwards County to compare to what I have.I have my g-g-grandmother's death certificate from January 6, 1908... Unfortunately, they don't give me as concrete a connection as I would like, but I can send a copy to you via email-scan or snail mail if you think this is the same Hannah.
In not-so-brief it has her still married (though we can find nothing on Charles Jones and this does not mention him by name), dying of tuberculosis at the age of 54 having lived her whole life in Illinois. She is buried in Hadden Cemetery off of Centerville Road.My dad and I went out there but did not find a stone (few stones, and several unreadable). We will check with the Carmi Township Board some time to see the plot book and hopefully determine if, when, and where Charles was buried there.I also got a copy of her daughter Effie's marriage license. However, it lists her father as Chas C Jones (though who knows who was filling out the record). No word on Lewis Manley--nor had I heard of him until you mentioned it.
I am glad to know the Hannah who married in Edwards County is the daughter of Hiram and Levina (Ward) Russell.I just wish I could get something concrete to confirm this is my Hannah Russell.
