NOBLESVILLE — Russell E. Prater, 64, Noblesville, passed away Sept. 13, 2008, at Saint John’s Medical Center in Anderson.
He was born Aug. 3, 1944, in Noblesville, the son of Clarence and Velma (Prater) Barrett.
Russell worked for Delco Remy in Anderson for 27 years, retiring in 1993. He attended Lone Oak Wesleyan Church in Anderson. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and spending time with his grandchildren. Russell and Pam had been married for 44 years.
In addition to his wife, Pam (Anderson) Prater of Noblesville; he is survived by sons, Russell (Kelley) Prater Jr. and Brent (Karen) Prater, all of Noblesville; daughter, Diana (Bill) Anderson of Sheridan; brother, Daniel (Edie) Prater of Anderson; stepsisters, Shirley Wood of Noblesville, and Rosalee Richie of Arkansas; grandchildren, Derek Messenger of Noblesville, Tyler and Courtney Prater of Lapel, Brittany and Jennifer Anderson of Sheridan, Matthew Prater of Noblesville, Megan Baskett of Noblesville, and Stephanie, Kathryn, and Johnathon Prater of Noblesville; brothers-in-law, Jerry Anderson and Jeff Anderson, both of Anderson; sisters-in-law, Linda Anderson of Fort Wayne, Diana (Dan) Turner of Frankton, and Jeannie (Steve) Klepfer of South Carolina; and aunts and uncles, including special aunt and uncle, Ed and Pat Prater of Noblesville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother and father in-law, John and Martha Anderson.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home in Noblesville, with Pastor William Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Crownland Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
