My Koenigs are Johann Heinrich Koenig (John Henry Koenig) who signed up as J. Henry or just Henry in the 1870 and 1880 census.
He was born in Saxony Germany around 1816, his two children (Karl-- Charles -- , and Caroline) were born in Ohio to Henry and his wife Caroline, who was born in Germany also.
My gr grandfather, Henry Koenig, was born January 1871 to their son, Charles, in Evansville, Indiana where Rev. J. Henry Koenig pastored Rmanuel Lutheran Church at the corner of FIrst Ave. and West Franklin St..
Rev. Henry Koenig (Johann Heirich) and Caroline went to Cullman Alabama after being at the Evansville church for 12 years.
He worked with St Johns Church in Cullman from 1876 to 1884. I cannot find him after that.
His son, Charles, disappeared not too long after my gr grandfather was born to Mathilda Thomas (her maiden name)in January 1871 and no one in the family ever knew what happened to him.
I also don't know where Caroline the daughter went. She was not included as a resident in Rev. Koenig and his wife's house in the 1880 census placing them in Cullman though she was in their home at the age of 19 acording to the 1870 census. Earlier this month (September 2012) I got additional information re the time he was at St John in Cullman from the current church historian.
Would appreciate any information anyone has re these family members.
I live in Evansville, Indiana and was always aware that my gr gr gr grandfather Koenig had pastored the Emanuel church there and the 1870 census verifies that.
