William Robert Wolf was born 22 Sept. 1907 in Indianapolis. He married Margaret Bishop 22 Dec. 1927, not sure where--not Bartholomew Co.--probably Indianapolis.Their first child was Camden Lee Wolf, born 3 Dec. 1928 at Indianapolis.Second child was William Robert Wolf, Jr., born 11 July at Chicago, Illinois.
Margaret Bishop Wolf was born about 1909, at Attica, Warren Co., IN.
By 1934, they were residing in Columbus, Bartholomew Co. IN.I don't know what brought them there, but the depression was on, and people moved around a lot, looking for work.Margaret filed for divorce 4 Aug. 1934, granted 13 Oct. 1934.She asked for and received custody of William R. Wolf, Jr., age 4.Camden Lee Wolf was acknowledged in the divorce filing, but his custody was not mentioned in the filing or the final divorce decree, so would be PRESUMED to have remained with the father.
Margaret remained in Columbus for several years, moving several times (noted in voter registration records). Her last address of record was 808 Brown St., recorded 7 Oct. 1938.There is no record of her second marriage.
In 1957, when William (Jr.) got married, his mother was then living at Loogootee, Martin Co., IN.William (Jr.) was married 12 Mar. 1957 to Janet Louise Smith, in Bartholomew Co.In 1979 (when his half-brother Donald died) William Jr. was living in Indianapolis.
William R. Wolf, Sr., remarried 25 Sept. 1935, to Mary Elizabeth Reed. This marriage is not recorded in Bartholomew Co.; the date came from their subsequent divorce proceedings.Mary was b. 19 Apr. 1906 in Bartholomew Co., daughter of Garland B. and Grace Mary (Mount) Reed. These people had ties in Shelby County, just northeast of Bartholomew, so it is probable that William and Mary got married in Shelby Co.
They had Donald Blaine Wolf, b. 9 Sept. 1937 in Bartholomew Co., and William Paul Wolf, b. 9 Apr. 1943.William Paul only lived two days, dying of a heart defect 11 Apr. 1943.Donald moved to Indianapolis about 1969, and died there 5 Feb. 1979.Donald and the infant William Paul are buried at Flat Rock Cemetery, in the village of Flat Rock, in Shelby Co., IN.Mary E. (Reed) Wolf, their mother, is buried to their left--she died at Columbus 18 Apr. 1985.William R. Wolf, Sr., d. 10 Feb. 1995 at Indianapolis, and is buried in the same cemetery, to the right of the sons.Mary's parents are buried nearby.
William R. Wolf, Sr., and Mary were divorced in Bartholomew Co., June 30, 1960.
Donald Blaine Wolf married first to Donna Phyllis Isley, on 10 Sept. 1955, in Bartholomew Co.When he died in 1979, his wife was listed as Carolyn Sue McAdams. He also had five sons and four stepchildren.Brother Camden Lee was residing in Loogootee, and brother William R. Wolf, Jr., was residing in Indianapolis (1979).
Nothing I found in the records at Bartholomew Co. addresses what became of Camden after his parents were divorced in 1934.There is a large extended family of AULTS in this region, actually three branches in Bartholomew, Brown and Jackson Counties, all distantly related. If he lived with some of them, it was likely an informal arrangement, and not documented anywhere.
Camden, William Jr., and Donald did all live in Bartholomew Co., at least as adults, part of the time.Camden had a Columbus phone number in 1954, and Donald and William Jr. had Columbus phones in their own names by 1955.
