I worked a query on Samuel Laforce and Mahala Anderson a couple of years ago, although the focus was on the Anderson side.
Samuel Laforce was b. 1790-1800, and died about December, 1851.His estate was in Bartholomew Co., but he has no marked grave, and also wasn't found on the 1850 census.Lots of people were missed in 1850.Samuel m. Mahala Anderson 11 May 1832 in Bartholomew Co., and their two children were Sarah (May 1836) and Daniel G. (13 May 1837) Laforce.Mahala died before Apr. 1840.Samuel remarried to Elizabeth Pitcher McComb, 7 Apr. 1840, but they were divorced in Jan. 1851.Samuel's daughter Sarah m. George Blaze, 13 Nov. 1851.In 1850, she was living with her Anderson grandmother.I don't have a date of death for Sarah; she and George moved to Jasper Co., IN, after they sold their land here on 29 Dec. 1862.They had 5 known children, Edgar L., Wilson R., John T., Minerva E., Marion F., and Cora Blaze.I don't know much about George, except that he was born Nov. 1830 Pennsylvania, and showed up here on tax records in 1849.He died 5 Aug. 1903 in Jasper Co.
George Laforce is listed here in 1850 with children Presley, Jefferson and Elizabeth, and probable son John Laforce listed just above him, with a wife & child.Presley was actually the first to arrive, on tax records in 1847; then Presley and John listed in 1848; and also George in 1849.George died Jan. 6, 1853, aged 63 years, buried at Columbus City Cemetery."Thomas" Jefferson Laforce and Presley Laforce bought a couple of pieces of land here in 1851 and 1853, then sold them in 1854, after which they are not found in any local records.
the 1888 "History of Bartholomew Co." says that John Laforce served in the Mexican War, 3rd Regt., Co. F, from June 24, 1846 to July 1847; and also that George Laforce service in the War of 1812 from Kentucky. You might get something useful from their military records at National Archives.George Lafore and Samuel Laforce MIGHT have been brothers, since they were close in age, but I found nothing in this county's records to prove it.Look for them IN Kentucky, 1810 to late 1840's.
Susannah Blaze who m. George Becker, is buried at Bethel Cemetery, in Union (now German) Twp., Susan Becker, 1840-1862.George Becker remarried in 1870.
