I realize this is an old post, but for the record, the Barth. Historical Society's stored items sustained some smoke damage, but had little significant loss.BCHS's storage room was at the far end of the building complex, away from the worst of the fire.As of April 1, 2010, all their collection was moved to other storage.
Barth. Co. GENEALOGICAL Society also had items stored in the building, specifically several hundred copies of the 1999 Bartholomew Co. Family Histories books. Unfortunately their storage was in the basement, which filled with 6 feet of water.BCGS members had just gone through the stored items about 3 weeks before the fire; most of the organizational records are safe, but all the inventory of 1999 Fam. Hist. books were lost, except about 25 copies that had been pulled out to sell for Christmas. (Yes, there are some left.) BCGS members did get to inspect the storage room in the ruined building--not quite as awful as you would have expected, but all paper items unsalvageable.
