The barn of John W. SCOTT’S farm two miles west of Lizton was destroyed by fire Monday afternoon. The fire is suppose to have been caused by spontaneous combustion as Mr. SCOTT had only a few day previous put several loads of clover hay in the mow on some old hay.
The fire was first spotted by neighbors and the alarm was given over telephone. When the fire was reached by Mr. SCOTT and the neighbors it was too late to save anything of much value. The barn was a good one and the contents were insured for $800. About two hundred bushels of corn were destroyed with the barn.
