Was Found Dead Wm. Nicely Meets Death While Hunting
Wm. Nicely, whose home was three miles west of Advance near the Bushtown school house, met an untimely death Monday while hunting. He went out hunting shortly before noon and when he did not return at the proper time a hunt was instituted and at about six o’clock his body was found a short distance from his home. His body was found by John Wells, his father in law, and Thomas Walker. The body was lying on one side of a rail fence and his gun and game, consisting of a rabbit and skunk, were on the other side.
Mr. Nicely also had a spade and an ax with him and they were found at his side. He had evidently accidently (sic) discharged his gun while climbing the fence. The entire load struck him in the left breast near the heart and death was instant as the indications were that he had never moved after falling in the snow. He had been dead for two or three hours when found his body was stiff. The gun is an old repeating shot gun.
Mr. Nicely was 38 years old and leaves a wife and three children, the eldest being eleven years of age. The funeral was held at Mt. Zion church Wednesday afternoon. Interment at Mt. Zion cemetery.
