I was also interested in this Joseph Lenover and I found the record a little confusing. It states he got 77.32 acres, the Land Office was in Cincinnati, and under comments it says "Lands in Indiana". However, under the description of the allotment it states: W 1/2SW sect. 24/ Township 5-N Range 3-w in Defiance Ohio. He didn't get the deed to the land until 1831 but had he been there since 1820?
Is he the same Joseph (b. 1775 died unknown who married Jane Kennedy and had the following family: Potifer 1795-1817 Elizabeth 1797- 1860 Richard 1800 - ? Charles 1804 - 186?married Eliza Dolsen in Kent, Ontario Julia 1805 - 1805 Ann 1807 - 1833married Richard Eberts in Kent, Ontario Jane 1810 - 1833 married Isaac Wilcox Aseneth 1814 - 1899married Christopher Arnold in Kent, Ontario Benjamin 1816 - 1858 married Harriet Jane Arnold in Kent, Ontario
Joseph was in Chester County, PA in 1800 and in Lycoming Co., PA in 1810. but there is no record of him after that in the US Census. Could he perhaps be the 45+ male listed in the 1820 census in Dearborn Indiana under Benjamin Lenover? Was Benjamin his son?
