Hi Ruth, Thanks for the info.I haven't found a connection. I believe my ancestors arrived on Sept. 1st or Nov. 1st of 1849.But, that doesn't rule out the fact that they may have been related, in some way, to your ancestors who arrived in the U.S. at an earlier date. Naturalization papers for Christopher and Peter DUB, (children of Louis DUB and Margaretha LAMBER), say they arrived in 1849, although I can't find a ship list for the specified date.(No 'declarations of intent' were used in Indiana that such an early date). They resided in Lake Co, Indiana, and then Peter DUB later moved to Chicago, Illinois. Their parents, most likely, would also be listed on that ship list arriving from Havre de Grace, on that date. I'm not sure whether Havre de Grace in Baltimore, or in France is the location they were arriving 'from' on that date.Hopefully the passenger list exists somewhere, and maybe one day I will find it.But, so far, searches of microfilms haven't produced any arrival of a ship on that day, from either port.I believe they came from Alsace Lorraine (or perhaps even the Saarland region of Germany). The family story is that they came from Alsace Lorraine.
Parents of Christopher and Peter are: 1. Louis DUBGE or DUB -- 28308 (1799 - 1862) ..sp. Margaretha LAMBER -- 28863 (1820 ???)
Good luck with your search. Thanks again. Diane G.
