New Point is located east of Greensburg in Salt Creek Twp. of Decatur County.It is near the Interstate 74 which runs to Cincinnatti. Found in the Old Rossburg Cemetery in Salt Creek Twp - near New Point: William Glidewell - b. 1814 d. 1890; (Civil War notation). Hester Glidewell - b. 1820 d. 1907 (nee: Earles; w/o William). Also the following children are buried near them: Evaline - b. 3-17-1859d. 9-4-1860. Emmert - b. 1-3-1871d. 1-7-1872. William P. - b. 3-19-1856d. 7-19-1871. Mary A. - b. 2-7-1850d. 8-9-1871
The marriage record index has William Glidewell marrying Hester (Hetty) Earles on 14 Sep 1834 in Decatur Co.The record appears in Book C page 60 of the Clerk of the Circuit Court ledger in the courthouse in Greensburg.You can get a copy of the record by contacting the office for instructions and cost.Please be aware that marriage records in those years did -NOT- contain ages, parents names, etc.Those items were not requested until the late 1880's.The Circuit Court also has will/probate records.
With the notation of the Civil War, you might be able to look for military records which may or may not have further info. You might also contact the Dept. of Health in Greensburg for death records.Records of births and deaths began in 1882.However, some of the records are totally missing from 11/1886 thru 10/1899.
