I have Arthur Edward Martin's death certificate. His son, William Martin, was the informant for his vital statistics. He did not know who Arthur's father was, but it does list that his mother's name was "Annie Middleton."So you are correct there.
However...when I looked at Arthur's marriage certificate, Arthur was asked his parent's names, including his mother's maiden name.He gave these answers:"William Martin" and "Anna Clark".
Now...Arthur and my grandmother married my grandmother in 1923...so, maybe she got a divorce from "William Middleton" and married a "Mr. Clark" (????)...
Because you're stating in your post that her maiden name was "Martin"...daughter of Henry Clay Martin. If this is correct, then the water gets a little murkyier, doesn't it ??I mean...William Martin marrying Anna Martin"...this is getting a little too close for comfort. And if she did have Arthur out of wedlock, like you suggested she may have, then it's possible she had an affair with a possible....cousin ???
Arthur Edward Martin was born:Nov. 22, 1902, according to ALL the documents I have on him.So, according to this census, everything points CLEARLY to this being my grandfather (since he was 7-years old in the 1910 census.)
How did you know of her parents (Henry and Hannah Martin)??
