While I have tons of information on the Sonner family genealogy I have very little detail on the enclosed members. Any help from a research in Harrison County would be most welcome. I expressly would like to learn more about Kristine Thomsen such as her arrival records in the US from Denmark. Where they were married? They are both buried in Harrison County. Not sure if they are in either of the Sonner cemeteries or not. The enclosed personal histories are out of date. 5-4 John Polk Sonner b. 12-29-1871 Harrison Co., In d. 10-8-1952 Harrison Co., In Kristine Thomsen b. 6-2-1884 Denmark d.5-16-1960 Harrison Co., In John was a tall angular man. In his early life he left Harrison Co to homestead in Nebraska. He also was employed as a conductor on a train where he met his wife Kristine who was working as a cook for the Danish railroad work crew. Later he moved back to Indiana and lived on a farm near New Middletown, Harrison County, Indiana, where he spent the remainder of his life. He also worked as a traveling photographer. Kristine was an unwed mother who was sent to America to hide her from polite company. As I have this story she was in the family way by someone from the Royal Danish family and he paid he passage to America and supported her for a number of years. Also her own family in Denmark was quite well to do because the children remember getting larger boxes of toys ever Christmas when they were small from Denmark. Her child’s name was either Lewis or Louise Thomsen on arrival in America. In the family Bible I seen the name scratched out and re written as Louis Sonner. Not sure if he was legally adopted or not.
