I have 5 very old papers, or rather, scraps of browned paper, on which were recorded 4 marriages and a receipt. These may have been written by the ones who performed the marriages. One even says, "To the Clerk of Jackson C. Ind."Could these have been the source of some of the county's marriage records?Does Jackson County IN even have this data listed?I don't know.I feel these papers were preserved by some county clerk who retired and died long ago.I would prefer to donate to a county historical or genealogical society or, for a small cost, to a descendant.
