Sarah Hill Brackett in 1845 was living Johnson Co., Indiana, when she filed a widow's application for a Rev. War pension for her husband Hawkins Brackett from Rutherford Co., NC.Daughter Mrs. Littleton (Mary Ann Brackett) Hill witnessed the application and lived in Johnson Co. at that time.
Nimrod Whitaker, married to Sarah Brackett's daughter Sally Brackett, also signed the application.
Who were the sons of Sarah and Hawkins Brackett? They had three, and one was born in Virginia, the other 2 probably in Kentucky. I have had no success in identifying the sons. Can anyone help me?
One is possibly John M. Brackett (b. 1799,Va.) and he was in Indiana from about 1835-1838, but returned to Henry Co., Ky. and then migrated by 1850 to Sullivan Co., Mo. where he died about 1877.His children intermarried with these families: Ely Stanley; Mary Judd; Sarah & Nancy Tucker; Josiah W. Spalding; Benjamin Dailey, Walter Long Tucker; and William A. Barnett.
The other two sons of Hawkins(or is it Burel) and Sarah Brackett were born between 1800-1810, according to Shelby Co., Ky. census.
