Yes!!This is my great-great grandfather!!The young boy that Osiah and Lavina Palmer buried there in Madison was their son, Charles.I managed to find them on the 1870 census in Athens Twp., Limestone County, AL, thanks to the FamilyTreeMaker census index (what a help!)Baby Charles was about a year old at that time, but evidently died before 1874, when his sister Jennie was born in Pierceton, Indiana.
I know very, very little about Osiah's life in Alabama, and nothing at all about his brother Samuel.I would love to find out more.It makes sense that Osiah had visited Alabama during the Civil War!I hadn't thought of that before, and had been wondering why on earth he had suddenly left Ohio / Indiana and headed for Alabama. Now I understand!
Are you a descendant of his brother Samuel?Do you know anything about what Osiah and Samuel did in Alabama?A local history of Pierceton, Indiana says only that Osiah had "raised cotton" in Madison County, AL.
I am so excited to find someone who knows about Osiah! You can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.Thanks!Kathy
