Hi,I saw your posting on the North's of North's Landing.I grew up in Rising Sun, IN very close to there and my grandfather was vaguely related to the Norths through the Craigs and perhaps the Gridleys of Kentucky.I have long harbored a theory that the Norths, Gridleys and Richasons migrated together to the Ohio valley. All three families originally came from Farmington, CT, and around the same time. All three intermarried.I suspect that bounty land was involved in this.
Back in the fifties, Lillian North (nee Craig) who was a distant relative of my mother sent my mother a letter that I still possess. In it she tries to set forth a bit of her family history. Here it is reproduced exactly as she wrote it with no spelling or grammercorrected. She was at least 79 when she wrote this.I hope this is somewhat helpful.Let me know if you have any further material on this.

I was certainly surprised to get a letter from you. Nevertheless, I was real glad to hear from you. In fact I think I can give you very satisfactory information about the families you wanted to know about - but am sorry. No dates. Deliah Craig Gridley was my fathers sister. Our family knew her as Aund Dee and she was a wonderful lady. She had one daughter - Eliza Richardson who was your fathers mother. There were besides Eliza - Oliver, Willie, John and North (or Byge) who was named for his father and died when North was an infant. North has a son who married Eloise McCreary = Lloyd McCrearys olders daughter. Lloyds wife was Flo North Ricketts daughter. Her father was Benjamin North. Paul Gridley who married Eloise is the same relation to Aunt Dee as your father (grandmother). Father had two other sisters. Ann married an Orr and Sallie married a Chrutcher. They are burried in the Warsaw Ky. Cemetary. Aunt Sallie had one son - Johnnie. They are both burried on my lot in Warsaw, Ky. About the bible which Percy North had - Byge is the only one living and in very poor health. I do not know whether he is at his home close to Percy's home or not - but I think he was entitled to Percys belongings after his death for there was no one else to make a claim. Aggie Gerley and her sister Mae are Aunt Ann Orrs grand daughters. I am sure if you could contact them you would gain quite a lot of information especially dates. They were Willie Orr's daughters and nieces of Aunt Dee's and Aunt Sallie. You would meet two nice people who would be glad to know you. Do you remember when you lived in my apartments. Your father brought his mother down to see me. (Eliza Richardson) I went out to see her after that one Sunday. Some folk and I were out driving. She was so glad to see me. My fathers parents were Willis and Mahala Ashton Craig. My father was named Ashton for his mothers maiden name. My mothers parents was Capt. Harry North and Mariah Homes North. The Homes were from Louisiana owned a plantation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Norths have a book which they are very proud of and some of the dayes were not correct and my mother would not have one. She said if the book wasn't what is ought to be in correctness she did not want it. We girls laughed so often about it for she was a good pious christian and taught her family the same way. This book would tell you about the Norths. And most likely give you a few dates. Fannie North Hamilton of Rising Sun has one of the books and so has Clyde Norths family in Rising Sun. I do not think of anything that I can add that will help you. But i do insist you see the Gerlies who own farms out back of Vevay. Hope you are all well. And you will succeed in gaining more information about the family tree.
Respectfully Lillian North.
P.S. excuse the paper. I felt this kind was more appropriate for what I was writing to you.
Love Mrs. North
