Im mainly trying to research the Tucker family, however I know they are connected into the Manes and Evans family and possibly to the Gillespie family.
In the early 1800's, possibly before 1830 there was an Archibald Evans in Hawkins. He was born 1782 in Virginia. He married Mary Manes, the daughter of Jacob Wilson Manes, who was born in Hawkins Co, TN. Jacob was the son of Seth and Patsy (Fields) Manes. So, now we have Archibald and Mary Evans. They had 7 daughters and three sons. One of their daughters, Sarah Evans married Calloway Hodge Manes, a son of Jacob Wilson Manes, in Hawkins Co, TN. Another Daughter, Rebecca Evans, married a brother to Calloway, named Seth in Owen co, IN between 1830-1840. Somehow, another daughter had met and Married Daniel Tucker born abt 1812 in Virginia. He was traveling with his father, and brother both supposedly named john. Elizabeth Evans married Daniel Tucker, either in Hawkins Co, TN or in Owen Co, IN. By the mid 1830's, Calloway and Sarah Manes, Seth and Rebecca Manes, Daniel and Elizabeth tucker and his father and brother, and several other manes and evans were in Crawford Co, MO...if not earlier. I know there were Gillispy's in Hawkins Co, TN and found it interesting that one of the earliest records was of a Jacob Wilson Manes clearing land in 1844 that belong to William Gillispy on the Jesse Gillispy place on Pulaski Co, MO. It was on this very same land that many of the evans, tuckers and mane's were buried. If anyone might have any sort of records, or information, I'd love to have it. Thank you!
