I'm hoping someone can shed some light here.I think the surname is Clauson, but I've seen Clawson in several places, too. Here are the folks I'm looking for:
Ruhama (Putoff) Clauson b. Feb 1868 in Jackson County m. married June 24, 1893 in Owen County to James W. Clauson d. after 1919 (1920 census shows her still living, widowed) I have seen four different spellings of her first name; Ruehama, Ruhama, Rhuanna, and Ruana.
She was still a relatively young widow (52) in 1920, and it's quite possible she remarried.
James W. Clauson b. May 1851, Owen County prob. d. December 18, 1910, Franklin Township, Owen County The "probably" is because I am not 100% certain the death record I've seen is him, though it's very likely.
Their son, Riley Clauson, married a distant relative of mine. They had other children, but I am unrelated to the family and haven't researched the others.
Here are some of the records I've seen:
Marriage of James Clauson & Ruhama Putoff: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XXFV-X3B
1900 census showing them with four children and a boarder with the surname Putoff who is most likely related to Ruhama: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M9MK-J6C
Son Riley's marriage record: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XXFB-RDB
If anyone has a record for Ruhama's death date, or a second marriage for her, verification (or correction) on James' death date, anything more exact than the year (1974) on Riley's death date, or anything else interesting about the family, I'd love to hear from you.
