I am trying to identify the parents of the John Thompson (b.KY c1803) who married Eliza Hinton (daughter of Daniel Hinton and Rachel Banfield) in Perry County IN in March 1830. The following – open to correction – is what I have developed on the Hinton-Banfield family:
DANIEL HINTON was born 1775 in Maryland, and died c1865 in Spencer County, Indiana. He married RACHEL BANFIELD April 17, 1798 in Fleming County, Kentucky. She was born c1775, and died c1845 in Perry County, Indiana. Children of DANIEL HINTON and RACHEL BANFIELD are:
ELIZA HINTON, b. February 12, 1808, Breckinridge County, Kentucky.
EDA HINTON, b. 1802, Fleming County, Kentucky.
DANIEL HINTON, b. 1812, Fleming County, Kentucky.
CELIA HINTON, b. 1814, Perry County, Indiana.
BENJAMIN HINTON, b. 1801, Fleming County, Kentucky.
BERLINDA HINTON, b. 1805, Breckinridge County, Kentucky.
HULDA HINTON, b. c 1815, Breckinridge County, Kentucky.
WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON HINTON, b. 1816, Perry County, Indiana.
EZEKIEL HINTON, b. December 23, 1804, Breckinridge County, Kentucky.
MATILDA HINTON, b. 1800, Fleming County, Kentucky.
John Thompson and wife Eliza are first found enumerated on page 181B of the 1850 (Pigeon Township) Warrick County, Indiana, Census. John is a farmer and indicates he owns property worth $160.
John Thompson and family are next enumerated on page 777 of the 1860 [Pigeon Township) Warrick County, Indiana, Census. Their oldest son James, now married, is living next door.
John Thompson, indicated to be a farmer, wife Eliza, son Harrison and daughter Matilda are enumerated together on page 617B of the 1870 Warrick County [Folsonville Township] Census. It is noted that Hiram Hinton, Eliza's nephew (son of her brother Benjamin) is enumerated as living next to John and Eliza and is indicated to be a farm laborer, presumably on the Thompson farm.
John Thompson and his wife Eliza are enumerated on page 152 [District 40] of the 1880 Kaufman County, Texas, Census. They are living in the household of their daughter Edith and her husband Thomas Edwin Spradlin. In the 1880 Census John Thompson indicates that neither he or his wife Eliza can read or write. Both John and Eliza were born in Kentucky, as were both of their respective parents. John and Eliza presumably died in Texas c1890.
Children of ELIZA HINTON and JOHN THOMPSON are:
HARRISON THOMPSON, b. 1832, Warrick County, Indiana.
JAMES THOMPSON, b. 1835, Warrick County, Indiana.
JULIA A. THOMPSON, b. 1843, Warrick County, Indiana.
EDA THOMPSON, b. August 14, 1844, Warrick County, Indiana
EZEKIEL THOMPSON, b. 1846, Warrick County, Indiana.
MATILDA A. THOMPSON, b. December 25, 1851, Warrick County, Indiana.
Thanks for any comments.
