Michael DeLorenzo entered message # 1441 on the Loudoun Co., VA GenForum message board relating to the Ayers family of Big Creek Twp., White Co., IN.The message notes that William S. Ayers was b. in Prince William Co., VA, the son of Daniel & Amanda (DAVIS) Ayers, natives of Loudoun Co., VA.I see a W. S. Ayers is referenced on page 296 of Hamelle's, "Standard History of White Co., IN".
Amanda Davis Ayers may be Amanda Davis who was under 21 years of age at the time her father Howell Davis', death in 1837. Howell Davis was b. 7 Dec 1759 in Loudoun Co. He was the son of Benjamin & Hannah Davis. His brother, Abel Davis [ca.1764-1847] was the progenitor of the large Davis family of White Co., IN.If I am correct this is additional proof that Abel Davis who m. Mary Huffman d/o John & Margaret Huffman was the son of Benjamin & Hannah Davis of Loudoun Co., VA
Children of Howell & Sarah Davis named in his will are Mary, m. James Tavenner; Lucinda Davis, Joseph Davis, Benjamin Davis, m. Sarah White; Amanda, ; Hannah, m. Eden/Edon White; Sarah Ann Davis, m. Enos Gore and Nancy Davis, m. Mr. Everitt.
I will be interessted if the many Huffman folks of White Co. stem from John & Margaret Huffman or Elizabeth Huffman, (sister of Mary (Huffman) Davis) who m. William Smith.John Huffman d. testate in Loudoun Co. in 1792.
