My ancestor Nicholas Hewlett was a saddler in Nashville about 1825-1865, then left for Louisville, KY around 1865. His sons, Wm, Chas, and Henry were also saddlers and also worked as collarmakers, which I assume is a craft that goes along with with saddle making ?
I am trying to find out anything about him. I can't seem to locate him in 1870 on a Louisville, KY census, but found him in Louisville working as a saddler. I did locate him on Nashville census.
Any help is so greatly appreciated.
I am new to researching in KY and TN. He was born 1794 in VA and I assume, died in Nashville, though haven't found out a date or place of death.
