HELP!!!! I have hit a brick wall. I know that my husband's great-grandfather was from Natichotches Louisiana. He married Parthenia Louise Sims. I think that I have found him on the 1850 census but the numerator (most likely after a few drinks)illegably wrote Valantine LeCourt but it looked like Valantine LeBomb. This is how the index writes the name. I feel that it is my Valentine but with the fancy "t" at the end looks like a "b". Also, the race is given as "M" and we are definitely white.I also knowthat during this census in this area the race was wrongly reported many times.Valentine had a brother and two sisters one being Ophelia which is a name Valcour named his daughter. He moved to Houston, Texas on the 1860 census and died in San Antonia in 1883.Any help will be most welcome as I am not sure if the name is spelled LeCour or LaCour and changed when he moved to Texas.
