I was born a Bareswill in the state of Louisiana. Anyone I know who spells their name exactly like this are related to me. My aunt told me that the spelling of the name of our German ancestors was originally Bareswilt before they changed it to Bareswill. My grandfather Fred Archie Bareswill played professional baseball for St. Louis and later worked as a carpenter. I'm working on my genealogy on his wife's side of the family, she was Allie Grigsby and a member of the DAR. I'm trying to gather enough documentation to join the DAR myself. I would love any information you have obtained about the Bareswill family. My Aunt Dell (who is 90 years old and "sharp as a tack" told me the following about Fred Archie Bareswill (who was her father and my grandfather): Fred's father was full-blooded German who came to the US from Germany and settled in Illinois then moved to Wilmount,Arkansas where he had a "pressing shop" (similar to today's dry cleaners). Fred's mother was Emma Bareswill who was from Holland. Bareswilt is the original spelling of Bareswill. Fred Archie was born on Dec. 16, 1891 and died July 9, 1962. He married Allie Grisby who was born on June 25, 1893 and died Dec. 27, 1960. Fred had 2 brothers: Dan and Loren. Dan lived in Monroe, La and Loren in Shreveport, La. Fred also had 3 sisters; Henretta who married Garnet Anderson who was President of Union Oil Mill. The other two sisters were referred to as "Tot" and "Mamie". Mamie lived in West Monroe, La. Fred Archie Bareswill and Allie Grigsby had 10 children: 1. Fred Allen b 3/4/1912 died 10/16/1917 Died as a young child as I was told that he and a man who worked for them were both ill and they sent for medicine and it was mixed up and the child took the medicine that was meant for the man. 2. Dell b 6/28/1913 3. Joe Richard (my father) b 5/31/1915 died 4/4/1998 4. Dan Loren b 11/21/1917 died 5/12/90 5. Mary Emma b 10/28/1919 died ll/14/87 6. Margie Alene b 8/9/1922 died 7/23/1995 7. James Oliver b 1/10/1924 or 1925 8. Nellie b 12/20/1926 9. Billie Dyeon b 7/23/1929 10 Teddy Jean 1/25/1933 Fred and Allie raised their family in Oak Grove, Louisiana. Numbers 2,5,6,8,9 and 10 are daughters. Dan served in the Marines, Joe in the Army and James in the Army..all during WWII. PLEASE share with me any information you may have. I would truly appreciate it! What is your relation?
