I am researching the family of Leon DeBroux, who was born in 1833 in Belgium. He emigrated to the U.S. around 1852, married Matilda Gagnier in Michigan, and had a brother named Joseph DeBroux who emigrated to the U.S. with his wife around 1880. Leon had a sister named Marie in Belgium who never married and died in 1890. He also had a brother named Auguste who died in 1890 in Belgium whose wife may have been a Phillipot. To my knowledge, Leon and Matilda lived in Michigan, Kansas, and Florida, but their children also lived in other states as well.
Leon and his wife Matilda had a number of children, born over a 27-year span, whose names were: Albert Gilbert Fernando G. Leon C. Lillian Charles Harry Felix Gustavina Louis William Mary Agnes Matilda Margaret
Leon C. DeBroux married a woman named Alice Borzone or Barzone at some point, and the couple lived in New Orleans, Orleans Parish, LA, for at least a few years before Leon C. died in July 1902 in New Orleans. They had at least one child together, a son named Paul.I know nothing else about Leon and Alice and would like to connect with someone who might have more info on this family. His brother Gilbert also lived in New Orleans for many years, but he never married.Leon C. and Gilbert would have been my great uncles (??).
There are a number of DeBroux researchers who have family members with some of these same names, but I have been unable to make a definite connection with any of them yet. My suspicion is that Leon may have emigrated to the U.S. with another sibling who settled in Wisconsin, but Leon moved on to other states himself. I cannot place him in Wisconsin at all, but he did live in Michigan for a while, so I suspect that he is related to one of the Wisconsin DeBroux families.
If you think you may have some information that can help us connect our DeBroux lines, please contact me by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you.
