I'm looking for my GEORGE family roots. My grandfather's name is Henry Wendell GEORGE b. 17 Jan 1898 in Newark, New Jersey. They are of the white race (blond hair, blue eyes).
On the 1900 Federal Census his family is listed as:
Father: Wendell GEORGE b Nov 1859 in Pennsylvania, he was a Millwright by occupation
Mother: Blanch GEORGE (no maiden name given) b Sept 1871 in Pennsylvania, (Mother of eight children, 3 living) married 12 years
Son: Elmer GEORGE b Nov 1892 in Pennsylvania
Son: Charles GEORGE b Jan 1896 in Pennsylvania
Son: Henry GEORGE b Jan 1898 in New Jersey
They lived at 104 Chestnut St, Newark, New Jersey
There was a sister named Nellie GEORGE who lived in Mississippi and Texas in the 1920s - 1940s. She had two children (surnames unknown).
There may have also been a brother named Wendell GEORGE.
This family was broken up after the death of their mother, and the children either went to an orphange or homes of relatives and friends.
I found Henry GEORGE on the 1920 census living in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, with a family headed by Anna Haydel. He was found again in 1930 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with his wife and two children. Henry died in 1934. He worked for the Texas Oil Company.
Please contact me if you have any information on any of these people. I have photos of Henry, Elmer and Wendell, Sr.
