James H. Sewell is in the 1840 Union Parish, Louisana Census alone as James SIOL.In the 1850 Union Parish, LA Census he is with Susan Haney ADAMS md 1st to my Henry ADAMS.Susan Haney and Henry ADAMS md 1830 in St.Clair Co., Alabama.
Susan and Henry had at least 3 children in St. Clair Co., ALA. (1) Martha Caroline Adams Poole Toler (b.1830-d.1916 Bradley Co.,ARK, md 1st Harrison Poole & 2nd Robert Toler); (2)my John Quincy Adams (b.1833-d.1902 Sutton Co.,TX, md Mary Ann SHEEN, dau. of John Sheen & Mary Davies of Wales); and (3) William Adams (b.1835-d.? TX).
1850 Union Parish, Louisana Census has Susan SEWELL & James Sewell and name the children as being SEWELL (2 are ADAMS children).Next door is Caroline POOLE (19 b.ALA) and her husband Harrison POOLE (25 b. in GA-d.Civil War). This Caroline Poole is Susan Haney and Henry Adams oldest child Martha Caroline ADAMS (Martha C. is in the 1870 Union Parish,LA with her 2nd husband Robert Toler).
Susan Haney Adams and James H. Sewell (b.1818 NC-d.aft 1858 in Texas or the Civil War)had at least 2 children who were probably born in Union Co.,Arkansas and possibly 1 in Union Parish, Louisana. (1)Susan Sewell (b.1842 ARK-aft 1850) (2) James H. Sewell, Jr. (b.1847 ARK-1872 Kimble Co., TX killed by indians, md Sarah Gossett), and possibly Nathan SEWELL (b.1848-d.1850 Union Parish,LA).
By 1854 this family was living in Parker Co., Texas where I believe the parents died by 1858 because I can't find them in any census in Texas.James H. SEWELL, Jr. was in the Civil War, and there was a James H. SEWELL who signed up in Louisana and died in the Civil War--was this the above James H. Sewell that married Susan Haney Adams????
Any information on these families would be appreciated.
