I seek a Michael W. (records have him listed as Wellan, Whialand, Whealand) who died in Iberville Parish in 1804 or 1805.
There is a Baton Rouge diocese record that makes brief mention of this (I forget the exact date).
My ancestor John Lee is first seen in LA being appointed administrator for M.W.'s modest estate. This is in November of 1805.Obviously, either Lee and M.W. were acquainted, and/or the court though highly enough of Lee to appoint him to this role.
M.W. apparently died intestate and without heirs.I have been unsuccessful in finding any other records of his existence.I'm trying every avenue I can find to backtrack John Lee, and I'm hoping someone out there knows something of M.W.'s heritage so that I can get a clue.
