Announcing new website containing a close up view of the work of Jeremiah Brumbaugh Tawzer and his wife Barbara Thomas Tawzer. Born in Menallen Township, Adams Co. Penns, and marrying the daughter of the manager of Pine Grove Furnace Iron Works, this man left behind a deerskin bound copybook, full of his songs, both collected ballads from his sea captain father, and original tunes, that contain some of the first published political campaign songs, as well as a protest song against the advent of the railroads. He decorated his book with fraktur art depicting animal life, political figures, architectural scenes of Philadelphia, and intricate designs. He and his wife
practiced Powwow Healing, and the remedies they passed down through their families had their roots in the middle ages in Germany. He records the news, just received, that Davy Crockett has been shot dead! Please check out this truly extraordinary book on display at this address!
