I need help finding birth and marriage records for Girtha G. Kirvin, born in December 1886 to Hannah and William Kirvin. She was born in Boggy Town. She married around 1902? but I don't know where. She married George Herbert Brown from Marion County Texas. She was about 15 years old at the time. The story goes that she was in love with a guy (last name Attaway) and her family did not approve. They sent her off to stay with relatives somewhere, and she met George Brown. He wanted to marry her. He was 10 years older than she was. Her family basically forced her to marry George Brown. They lived in Louisiana and Texas after that. Later, in 1929, George died of a heart attack. She packed up the remainder of her minor children and went back to Arkansas to find the Attaway man again. She may have eventually married him-the family says she took up with him. If they did marry, it would have been after 1930.
I know the part about her going back to him is true, because my grandfather was one of the minor children that she hauled back with her. He told me the story. It was not a good situation. He ran away from her numerous times after that. I believe he was 12 or 13 at that time. I would like to hear from anyone with any information about these people. Thanks! Tara Alleman
