Thanks to Carol Powell for information sent this week.
On the 1860 Rapides Parish, Louisiana Census, Lavinia J. Stewart is listedas living in household of John Stewart, along with his little daughter Esther.Who is Lavinia J Stewart?Nancy Jane Henry, John's wife is not listed.John B. Stewart, the son was not born until 1862.According the age of Lavenia J. on the censusshe was born ca.1822-23, so was she his sister? She was too young to be his mother.
This is the first time Lavinia J. Stewart has popped up in my research by name.My great grandmother was apparently named after her.My great grandmother was Ida Luvenia Stewart third child of John and Nancy Jane Henry Stewart. She married Isaac Jefferson Bailey. From Louisiana (Shreveport)they migrated to Red River County, Texas where their fourth child Sallie was born.I knew Sallie personally.I have a gap between Feb. 1853 when my great grandmother was born until 1874 when Sallie was born. They left for Indian Terr. in 1878-79 crossing Red River at Brown's Ferry near Thackerville, Okla. where John Stewart had a sister and brother-in-law living. Was this sister named Lavinia J.?Did John Stewart must have gone into the civil war from Rapides Parish. Any help will be appreciated.
