Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2006 at the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Lee Burton Prather, 77, who died Saturday, November 4, 2006, 5:09 a.m. at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley, Louisiana. Bro. Paul Theriot of Eunice congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses will conduct the funeral services and the graveside service at the Maxie Cemetery. Mr. Prather was born July 18, 1929 in Church Point, LA to the late Joseph and Zulma Prather. He was a lifelong resident of Acadia Parish; He was a Rice and Crawfish farmer for 57 years and also worked with Sloane Tree Service. Mr. Prather loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting with his boys and grandchildren. He loved helping others and volunteering for any worthy cause. Mr. Prather is survived by his wife, Mildred (Sis) Daigle Prather of Crowley, a daughter, Sandra Dale Marietta and her husband, Larry of Crowley, three sons, Edwin B. Prather and his wife, Marlene Murrell of Crowley, Travis and Colin Prather of Crowley; two brothers, Ernest Prather of Opelousas and Nathan Prather of Lafayette; two sisters, Ruby Sloane of Crowley and Sue Prather of Virginia; nine grandchildren, Tracy Theriot, Jodie Marietta, Elizabeth Brown, Amy Medeiros, Corie Prather, Shelly Prather, Jennifer Murphy, Erin Guidry and Michael Prather and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Benjamin and Zulma Matte Prather and a son, Edward Benjamin Prather.
