I'm looking for information about Jasper Eugene FREGIA married to Emma DOUCETTE, my Grandparents and their ancestors.
My grandmother was Emma Doucette (b:6 Nov 1895, d:Mar 1978 in Hardin, Liberty Co., Texas)
Her father was Joe (Joseph) Doucette (b: Aug 14, 1872, d: May 7, 1953) Married to: Rosie Ellis,( b: Aug 10, 1880, d: April 7, 1948), daughter of John Ellis Sr. and Emily Ann Snell of North Carolina)
Joe Doucette's father and mother may have been James Doucette and Martha Garrard, (married about 1863)
Emma Doucette, had these sisters and brothers:
The oldest child was a girl, called "Aunt Monk" by my mother. She was married to Buck Markentell (an alternate spelling of Marcontel, I believe). Her name may have been Camille
The youngest child was a girl named Gladys.
In between there were sisters named Martha, Lottie, Lillian, Doshie (maybe not spelled that way) and a brother named, Thomas.
Emma Doucette was married to Jasper Eugene FREGIA (b:22 Jan 1892, d:Jul 1975 in Hardin, Liberty Co., Texas. He went by Gene and had no siblings.
His father was Ferran Fregia (b: Nov 6, 1867, d: Sep 5, 1955, was married to Odelia MARKENTELL (b: Aug 25, 1853, d: Nov 6, 1939)
Jasper Eugene's father was Frazon (possibly Froisin FRUGE) Fregia, descended from Pierre Francois Fruge.
Froisin FRUGE Born: 27 May 1847, Place: Opelousas, St Landry, LA, Christened: 27 Nov 1847, Place: Opelousas, St Landry Parish, LA
Family word of mouth history says the Doucettes came from Canada and may have saileddown the Atlantic, around Florida, into the Gulf of Mexico. Possiblysettling in Louisiana and then migrating to Texas. There is Indiana blood in the family originating from the Canadian Doucettes.
