Around 1800, the three sons of Seth Pettypoole: Dr. Nazareth, Col. Robert and William Pettypoole moved to the SW Miss/SE LA border, and settled their plantations. They seemed to change from Pettypool to Poole/Pool around that time when they reached Natchez, Miss., while coming to the new territory with so many other settlers from the Carolinas.
They were the grandsons of Abraham Pettypoole of the Carolinas. George Baumbach has a excellent website regarding the Colonial Pettypool family. Look it up, it is a treasure of Poole/Pool family information.
William 's family settled in SW Mississippi and was the forefather of many great famous Mississippi Athletes, Godly preachers, community educators and pioneers. He married a Tynes daughter, as did his brother, Robert.
Robert's large family settled both Louisiana and later Harrison Co., Texas in the 1840's. He married Eliza Anna Tynes of South Carolina. It is said that he was a Colonel in the Battle of 1812, at the Battle of New Orleans. He is mentioned as "brother Robert crossing the Red River", in the Wm. Poole family Bible. All the Texas "Robert Poole" dscendents, still bearing the Pool/Poole surname,. . . seemed to have died out. His only known "Poole/Pool surnamed" descendents, now reside in Baton Rouge, Louisiana area. If you are one, contact me, so am I.
Nazareth's only child, married Orlando Poole, Robert's eldest son and raised a large family in NE Texas. Nazareth was the first Doctor in Clinton, Louisiana and owned Olive Branch Plantation. He died in East Feliciana Parish, La.
