Sarah Metcalf or Medcalf was born 1686 to Joseph Metcalf or Medcalf and Sarah Bowers. [I will quote, because this next bit is confusing.]
"[Joseph] married in 1685 Sarah Bowers... In 1702, he was a selectman. His first wife died in 1727; and he married in 1730 Hannah, widow of John Fisher. He died in 1741... His widow died in 1746. Sarah Metcalf was the 1st of 2 children. Joseph Metcalf was the 4th of 7 children.
Joseph Metcalf or Medcalf, born 1658, was the son of John Metcalf and Mary Chickering, married in 1647. John Metcalf or Medcalf was the son of Michael, and was born at Norwich, England, in 1622. John died in 1690, his wife in 1698. Sarah Bowers, 1633-1727, was the 4th of 4 children born to John Bowers and his wife. "John Bowers came with the Braintree and Weymouth men about 1652. ... His house was burned by the Indians in 1676; and he, with his only son, was slain on the same day. His wife died in 1694." [This was King Philip's War.] [Sarah Bowers and her 2 sisters all married Metcalf or Medcalf boys.]
Timothy Clark, born 1677, settled in Medway. Married in 1700 Elizabeth Pratt (1682 - 1702, daughter of John Pratt and Rebecca Colburn); second, in 1705, Sarah Metcalf. He died in 1725. Children: -- Timothy, 1706 Sarah, 1708 Beriah, 1711 Joseph, 1714 Perhaps others in Medway, MA.
Timothy Clark, born 1677, was son of Benjamin Clark and Dorcas Morse. They were married in 1665; he died in 1724, his widow in the following year. Timothy was 6th of 10 children; there was another Timothy before him, 1674 - 1676. Benjamin Clark, born 1644, was the son of Joseph Clark and Alice, or Alse, as it was often written. Joseph died in 1684; his widow Alice died in 1710. Benjamin was 2nd of 9 children. [Nothing is said about Alice's maiden name or the marriage date, but the first child was born in 1642.] Joseph was "one of the first thirteen who undertook the settlement of this town."
Dorcas Morse was born 1645, died 1725, 4th of 8 children born to Joseph Morse and Hannah Phillips. Joseph and Hannah were married in 1638. Joseph died in 1654. In 1658 his widow married Thomas Boyden. Hannah died in 1676, at the house of her eldest daughter (Hannah Morse Flood, wife of James Flood of Boston) in Boston. Joseph Morse was born in 1615, son of Samuel Morse and wife Elizabeth. Joseph was the 3rd of 7 children. Samuel Morse was born in England in 1585. He came to America in 1635, bringing his wife Elizabeth and seven children with him. He died in 1654, his wife probably in 1655.
