Captain, Shubael GARDNER 1765-1828 of Nantucket and Dunkirk whaling colony
I am looking for infomation on Captain Shubael GARDNER and his descendents. His father was Solomon Gardner b:1730/31 and his mother was Jemima FOLGER b:1734/35. The family were Quaker.
Shubael married an anceston of mine Elizabeth CASTLE at Dunkirk, France in 1800. Elizabeth gave birth to at least four Children - daughter Jerusha b1801 in Dunkirk; Eliza 1804; Chalres Gorhan 1806 and Alfred F 1811.
Alfred married
1] Avis W. GARDNER b1817 in Nantucket in 1842; 2 daughters Elizabeth Castleb:1843 and Sarah b:1848 [Sarah possibily married a Rev TEMPLE]
2] Phebe Ann RUSSELL m: after 1848 - did they have children?
Jerusha was in Nantucket in her later years. But what became of Eliza and Chalres?
In 1785 Shubael who had been a prisoner in London, conducted negotiation with Paris to set up the Dunkirk colony. Although must of the Dunkirk colony returned with the start of the French Revolution but Subael stayed on - but to when?
I gather from records that Shubael had been married before with at least one daughter. As Shubael Gardner, with his wife and daughter, sailed for Dunkirk from London in 1785. Who were the wife and daughter?
If any lister is descended from or related to Shubael and Elizabeth - I have a genealogy for the CASTLE family who orginated in the Folkstone area of KEnt, England.
