Looking for information on ancestors and descendants of Thomas Burgee, Sr. (ca.1745-1831), lived in Frederick Co., MD. Reported to be descended from French Huguenot family. Possibly emigrated from England to Maryland in 1760's. First property purchased in Fred. Co. about 1769. By 1831, Thomas Burgee Sr. owned: "Benjamin's Choice" (190ac), "William & Elizabeth" (60ac), "Partnership" (50ac), and "Lady" (100ac), plus property in Leesburg, VA, and near Harper's Ferry, MD.He participated in 6th Co., Maryland Militia, Rev. War, 1777. Anyone know anything about this Militia?Thomas Burgee, Sr. married Eleanor (last name unknown). Anyone know a last name for Eleanor?Known children: Singleton Burgee (1778-1838) married Jane Ijams; Miel Burgee, Sr. (bef. 1790-bef. 1826) married Eleanor "Elinor or Ellen" Waters; Thomas Burgee, Jr. (1779-1852) married Anna "Ann" Waters (sister of Eleanor Waters); Elijah or Eli Burgee (info unknown); Martha Burgee (1783-1850) married two brothers (1) Nicholas D. Garrott; (2) John Garrott; Mary Polly Burgee (abt. 1773-1854) married Barrick (or Bannuck) Hall. Suspected daughter: Rebecca Burgee (1779-18??) married Edmund Purdy. Descendants of this family ended up in Iowa. Also looking for any info on relationship to Thomas Sr. of following Burgee's: Ann Burgee married John Mitchell March 23, 1796; Nancy Burgee married John Fowler Dec, 7, 1790; Thomas Burgee married Sarah Chaney Dec. 13, 1804; and Elizabeth Burgee married Horatio Marlow Aug. 9, 1794.All these family members lived in Frederrick County, MD in late 1700s and early 1800s.
