Joseph was discharged from the service in Greenbush, NY after the war and after a hospital stay for dysentery. Joseph and Susanna had a daughter, Caroline born 1832 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. by 1850 Joseph, Susanna, Caroline, Jasper, Hel(l)en, Altana or Althany, Louisa, and Elvira appear in the 1850 Federal population census in Walker Township, Kent County, Michigan. All the children were born in Ohio.
