The Taylor name does fall into some of the earliest settlers of Shelburne, MA.. This may be the area where Taylor Rd lies, located on the east side of Shelburne toward Greenfield, MA. It's been a while since I've read the Shelburne history. You might also like to use this lead if you are reasearching the Taylor family: Fort Taylor was located in Charlemont, MA near the Deerfield River along the the Mohawk Trail. This is the next town west of Shelburne Falls. It was a French and Indian War Fort. A marker marks this site seen from the highway.
The disputes of what are now Vermont lands were mainly with NH, but I do believe that MA and NY claimed to have had issues with VT, losing some lands to that state.
