Ploof family in Detroit & Plainwell
I'm seeking any information or contact with the descendants of Melvin and Beatrice (Rogers?) Ploof, who were living in Plainwell, Michigan in 1930. The 1930 census lists:
Melvin Ploof, salesman at Dictaphone, born New York, both parents born New York
Beatrice Ploof, wife, born Michigan, both parents born England
Robert M. Ploof, son
Donald R. Ploof, son
I found obituaries on this website (a big thank you to the transcriber!) for Beatrice and one of her grandsons. Melvin Ploof was my grandmother's only sibling, and the family story says that he died in Detroit in the 1920's from a blood clot while recovering from a broken leg. I have several photographs of Melvin Ploof, and one of his wife Beatrice, that were left to me after my mother died. Melvin Ploof was born in the Adirondacks of New York State, where most of his family and ancestors remained. I've researched his parents families back many generations and I'd love to share this information with any descendants who may still be living in Michigan. According the the 1971 obituary, Beatrice Ploof:
"was born January 29, 1894, in Dollar Bay, Michigan. She is survived by 2 sons, Donald and Richard of Plainwell; 8 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Boldwin (Mae) Cooper of Detroit; several nieces and nephews."
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
