i grew up in Chicora/cheshire center from 1961 to 1978, but my mother Beulah Davis lived in that area almost 70 yrs and then allegan/plainwell until she passed away 2 months ago. she grew up on a farm owned by a lady named Jenny Davis, who was supposed to of adoped my mom. her real mom was Florence Wall. there was a big 2 story house/farm there on some property /acreage in Chicora. there was a man named Robert Davis, who was married to Jenny, unclear if he was the owner of that farm before he married Jenny. the farm was justa short ways from the old basil giles store.now the house is gone, all the other buildings, barns, BUT FOR SOME REASON, a portion of the corn silo remains, its not usable anymore and part of another chicken coop or something is still there, to many would be consider a eys sore compared to the rest of the buildings. there is now some kind of produce stand there now. id like to learn more about the farm, past owners, any history of things that pertain to the house, farm, people anything..
also i had heard there used to be a KKK group in the chicora area, was THAT REALLY TRUE.
im one that loves to learn history of things, the area we lived in, my familyroots, and lifestyle and all that good stuff. but i dont have any ancestors left to tell me.
id like to learn what kind of person my mom was.her mom, family and just everything. neighsbors..
